SI Look Portrait

Weather was perfect and I wanted to do some SI look portrait for Jules. Session began around 8:30 and we worked fairly quickly in order to use last little bit of sunset out there. I liked the T-shirts that Jules's Dad made. Personally, I think it goes well with setting sun. Lighting was simple. One 580 EXII on camera left about 1/4 power with umbrella. I don't need huge studio lighting to lit up the subject. 1/2 CTO gelled and white balance was cloudy on my 1D mark III.
Here. Lighting is the same. I was sitting down on the ground to lower the horizon level as much as I can. I kept subject turn toward to the light source so that Jules's face is well lit.

Simple B/W conversion using Silver Effect Pro (Nik Software) followed by little vignetting around the corner. Little bit of fog would be perfect (I could put artificial fog...). Hope I can get that kind of image once football season begins.

Pearl District Photo Shoot

I had a photo shoot around 2PM at the Tanner Springs Park. The park is located around the buildings but there's no shade area! I had to use off camera flash to fill / overpower the sun. I like to bring 1D MK3 during sunny summer days since it can sync up to 1/300 (1/500 with new pocket wizard)
As you can tell, flash is on my Left at full power and sun is behind Xander. Xander is nice person to photograph with and I think he can be a good model in the future. Next time, I will bring a tri-grip reflector so that my flash doesn't have to work so hard.
Here, again sun's in subject's behind. I like unique background
I finally found a shade area near tree and took a headshot type of shot of the day. I love 85 1.2L. This is the only lens I bring for senior photo. The other lens I love is 35 1.4L which I use exclusively for engagement session.
